It’s all in your attitude ...
The SDCS is there to capture semantics, not just to make your life miserable ?!
- Remember that if you can’t figure out how to name it, chances are that your data customer will be in even worse shape when they have to figure out what you meant
This is a hard problem, so ask questions: help@sedris.org
- Make the extra effort to name things well; don’t use
- “Length of greater precision” if you mean “foliage radius”
- “Width at bottom” if you mean “trunk radius”
- Better to request a new SDCS code (chances are others need it too)
- We’ll make it as painless as we can
Working on tools to make it easier to search the SDCS
- HTML pages are a start
- Excel® 97 Workbook helps too
- Investigating support for (several) classification/organization methods to guide your use of the SDCS
