The tool currently contains
- Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) and its associated conditions
- Global Change Master Directory (GCMD)
- Authoritative Data Sources (ADS) Taxonomy
- Ocean Executive Agent (OEA) Taxonomy(for requirements, mainly from N096 RQMTs db)
Notes:
The UJTL, created by Dynamics Research Corporation for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is a generic list of defense-related tasks, which can be used by war fighters to describe missions and identify requirements. Each task is linked to relevant environmental, military, and civil conditions. The UJTL has been approved by the JCoS in an effort to standardize mission requirements and training responses and is gaining acceptance across DoD. For example, JWARS is essentially driven by the UJTL, starting with their requirements definition, and JSIMS is also linking their requirements to the UJTL.
The GCMD is a government project for research scientists interested in global change. It is a multi-agency effort sponsored by NASA that has its own taxonomy to describe and search for Earth-observation data.
The ADS project, sponsored by DMSO, attempts to designate “authoritative” sources of data for all DoD. With MEL being the preferred source of environmental data, all searches of ADS that fall in the Environment category will be passed to MEL. The presence of the ADS Environment Taxonomy here allows translation of searches to MEL terms.
The OEA is completing an Ocean Requirements collection effort. The requirements, largely derived from N096’s RQMTs database, constitute a long list of important METOC parameters. This presence of this list in the database allows the OEA RQMTs to be linked to available resources.
