The SEDRIS 3.0.3 STF Defragmentation Utility is available for use on
the following platforms:
Description This application removes all unecessary space present in an STF 3.0.3 transmittal, compacting each block in the file to its minimal size. Such extra space exists due to the read/write nature of SEDRIS 3.0.3. Usage of the program is described below, as well as the current limitations. Options -o : this option causes the STF transmittal to be removed and replaced with the defragged version. Your original transmittal cannot be recovered. -f <filename> : this option creates the defragged STF Transmittal with the filename specified by the <filename> argument. -d <directory> : this option creates the defragged STF Transmittal in the directory specified by <directory> argument. This cannot be specified in conjunction with the -o option. -u <urn> : this option creates the defragged STF Transmittal with a urn name specified by the <urn> argument. -q : this option suppresses all output of the program, other than error messages. -h --help : this option prints out a help message displaying these options. Examples Here are some examples of how to execute this program and the expected results: defrag_stf_3.0.3 /transmittals/stf_belle.stf A new defragged STF transmittal named stf_belle.stf will be created in the temporary folder defrag/ which will be in the directory you executed stf_defrag from. defrag_stf_3.0.3 -o /transmittals/stf_belle.stf The STF transmittal stf_belle.stf will be replaced with a defragged version with the same name. defrag_stf_3.0.3 -o -f small_belle.stf /transmittals/stf_belle.stf The STF transmittal stf_belle.stf will be replaced with a defragged version with the name small_belle.stf defrag_stf_3.0.3 -d /transmittals/defragged /transmittals/stf_belle.stf A new defragged STF transmittal named stf_belle.stf will be created in the directory /transmittals/defragged/. The original transmittal will not be affected. defrag_stf_3.0.3 -u urn:x-sedris:stf_belle.stf:2 /transmittals/stf_belle.stf A new defragged STF transmittal named stf_belle.stf with a new internal urn name of 'urn:x-sedris:stf_belle.stf:2' will be created in the temporary defrag/ folder. Current Limitations If the directory in which the STF transmittal to be defragged resides in is specified as the -d <directory> and the -f <filename> is not specified to be different from the current STF transmittal filename, the STF transmittal will be defragged but will not be preserved to disk, as the intention to overwrite was not given. Currently for irix, only n32 binaries have been created.
